Emma and Darwin

Darwin at high age
From: Charles Darwin, Sproule 1990

Finally a fine picture of Darwin in the last days of his life, listening to Emma playing the piano. He could look back on a rich and industrious life in which he attained his goals completely. Galileï demonstrated that the Earth was not the centre of the universe but that it rotated around the sun. With this knowledge, man became a bit less special.
Darwin put man with two legs on earth by demonstrating that he was just a species amongst other species (with indeed some extraordinary capacities). His theory has had an unprecedented influence on the vision of mankind related to its existence until this day.
