This is a list of the remaining books written by Darwin. They are not
all very interesting to read, but they are nearly all pioneering. Often they
are the basis for new branches of science. In 1871 his second important great work came out: The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex. He had started working on it as early as in 1867. |
He is not afraid any more to talk about the descent of man from an apelike ancestor. As a matter of fact Huxley had cleared the way for him by publishing in 1863 his book 'Evidence of man's place in nature'. Huxley had already taken the blows. |
