Sigillaria brardii |
The leaf scars of this species are arranged in vertical (and spiral)
rows but there are no ribs present. In young plants and on young branches
of older trees the transversely lenticular leaf cushens are lying close together.
On older trunks the leaf scars are situated at large distances of each other,
horizontally as well as vertically. The shape of the older leaf scars is
different from that of the younger ones: the younger ones are transversely
lenticular while the older ones have become half circular on the upper
side. The photo is thus showing an older stem.
