Darwin always walked in the little wood which he had layed out himself together with Emma in a far corner of the garden. There were some old oaks while Darwin had planted lime trees, hazels and hollies and Emma flowering shrubs. Around it was a path covered with sand from a pit in the middle of the garden. The name of this famous path: the Sandwalk. | He adored his children and they adored him. When one of them was ill, he or she came to lie on the sofa in his study. They also helped him in his research, for example by observing the route of bees in the garden. |
