Behind the birth house of Darwin

Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in the town of Shrewsbury in Shropshire, England. This is also the place of the tv story of Father Cadfail, the medieval detective-monk. In the town centre some fine Tudor houses are seen. Shrewsbury is situated along the river Severn, which can be seen from the backyard of the house in which Darwin was born. Many times in his youth Charles climbed down the steep slope to go fishing in the river.
