Leaf scars of
Sigillaria
Upper Carboniferous, Eygelshoven (NL)
Width of the photo 4 cm.
The scars on the surface of the fossil trunks of Sigillaria indicate the place where the leaves were attached. In Sigillaria these scars are standing in vertical rows, mostly separated by an ridge. In Lepidodendron however they are arranged in oblique rows.
