Phyloblatta gaudryi

Leathery forewing of Phyloblatta gaudri from Graissessac (Fr). Upper Stephanian.
The fern is Pecopteris sp. Click on the photo for enlargement.
Fossils of coackroaches are relatively common in the Carboniferous,
because of the high fossilisation potential of the leathery forewings.
The photo comes from of the finder of the fossil: Bruno Vallois.
Some years ago a fossil of a  giant cockroach (9 cm) has been found in Ohio.
