Caesalpinites

Caesalpinites emarginatum
Crown of thorns

The family of Caesalpinaceae includes the species of crown of thorns. De Saporta defines Caesalpinites as a form genus of small leaves with rounded tops often with a small prickle. It is not clear from which real genera they originate. The main vein is often visible. Identification to species name is in most cases very difficult. Leaflets with emarginate tops are called C. emarginatum.
